The Girl He Knows

The Girl He Knows

Hope you've been enjoying the hop today. Make sure to check out Susan Scott Shelley's post when you are done here.

I answered all of Kristi's questions just because they were fun.

1.              Describe your life in 20 words or less

A silly home filled with wagging tails, bossy toddlers, and one amusing hubby giving me ideas for creating alien worlds.

2.              If your life was like Seinfeld, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Golden girls. What character would you be?

I went with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At first I would say that I was like the character Willow. She’s the quiet and shy bookworm who likes nature and is generally a nice person. She lets her outgoing friend (Buffy) shine while she waits in the wings.

Then I’m like who am I kidding? I’m really more like Darla, Angel’s sire. The sweet unassuming nice girl on the outside, but an evil vampire inside just waiting for the right moment to strike! Watch out! (She’s really one scary vampire IMHO and I like that about her.)

Perhaps I’m a little bit of both characters. I did like the amount of power and control Darla had. Of course, when you’re a vampire and can do just about anything you want.

3.              Who would win a fight between Chuck Norris and MacGyver?

MacGyver would win. The man is a Vietnam Vet, a bomb expert, a scientist, and has a Swiss army knife. Come on … it’s no contest. Poor Chuck. :)

4.              Would you rather be bald or have a huge mullet for the rest of your life?

Bald. A mullet of any sort has too much of a bad rap. If I were bald, I could wear all different sorts of wigs or head scarves. I love scarves. Oh, I could get my bald head tattooed. That'd be cool. Maybe people would think I was a badass? LOL

Onto the next blog. I'm curious to find out how Tracey Gee / Lovextra has answered this week's questions!!

See you next week.

Welcome back to Romance Weekly. Eden Ashe is on the hop today. Make sure to check out her blog post later on.

Susan Scott Shelley asks, given the choice of any author in the world (living or deceased), whom would you want as a dinner guest?

I would love to have dinner with L. M. (Lucy Maud) Montgomery. Anne of Green Gables was an all time favorite when I was a kid. I probably have more reliable memories of the movie than the books. I watched them every chance I could get. I probably watched the movies thousands of times.

Given that L.M. Montgomery is a Canadian author, and I am from the US I was met with a lot of blank stares from friends and family alike when I would go on and on about this author and the movies that were made, about how funny and sweet and just scrumptious Anne with an e’s story was.

I’d love to ask the author if she wrote Anne based on some of her experiences as a teacher. There were some pretty hilarious scenes and perhaps some revenge scenes against mean girls. I always wondered if any of them were based on a real person.

I’d also just love to find out what the author was like. What it was like to live when she did and how difficult it was for her to become a writer during that time in history.

Yes, it would be a very nice dinner.

I’m going to dig out my old copy of Anne of Green Gables.

Thanks for stopping by today. I’m curious who J.J. Devine is having for dinner. Hop on over and find out.

See you next week!

Carrie Elks Broken Chords

Fellow Romance Weekly author, Susan Scott Shelley (author of Rekindled) wants to know our player's (hero's) walk-up song (aka Entrance theme).

Unfortunately, I don't have any theme songs for my characters. My mind has been so overly cluttered with stuff to do these days most of the time there are no songs that pop into my head, except maybe:

The itsy bits spider climbed up the water spout, down came the rain....

Okay. I'll be singing that later. :)

Or a random tune from a Ford Raptor toy my toddler has decided to just keep his finger on the button for the past 1/2 hour while he smiles and dances. It's equally adorable and annoying!

Devil or Angel?

Devil or Angel?

But there is hope for this post still. I did have an idea for a story line that came from a song I enjoyed when I was actually working out on a consistent basis. This was a long time ago, but I have gotten back into working out (slowly) so maybe I'll be getting more ideas from music in the future. **crosses fingers**

The song is  "E.T." by Katy Perry.

He gives Amber chills.

He gives Amber chills.

I heard this while working out. I had been working on a manuscript with my alien (a.k.a. Sixxers) soldier team and when this song played in my headphones I immediately imaged one of the soldiers, Amber hearing this song and feeling equal parts fear and hope. Now, Amber is a tough as nails soldier and she's not afraid of anything, except the Sixxer who betrayed her. The lyrics of the song "Could you be the devil? Could you be an angel?" fit this Sixxer to a T, and the extraterrestrial theme fit my concept, too. So, I guess this is his theme song if Amber had a say in the decision. She hasn't told me his name, yet. I'm upset about that.

Now, that this idea has been brought to the front of my mind again, I really really want to start writing Amber's story. I'm going to have to do something about this problem.

J.J. Devine, Into the Darkness

I wonder what song J.J. Devine, author of Into the Darkness, picked this week?
